Hayley
Hynd completed her Matric and high school
career at St Dominics Convent, where she obtained a full Matric Exemption. She
also competed in the Accountancy, Afrikaans and History Olympiads.
She was an active
member of her Youth Group, being a youth leader.
Hayley
studied travel and tourism through Rennies Travel Training Institute (TTI),
graduating with exemptions, especially excelling in customer care. Here she
also completed her Galileo course, and she did her practical training at
Rennies Sandton.
She started her
working career with Creative Tours, a wholesale Tour Operator based in
Parktown. Here she worked her way up from a Trainee to a Senior Travel
Consultant. She was sent to London
for educational work experience. She also attended many in-house and external
training courses while working here, as well as attending computer training.
Hayley was then
offered a position at an opposition tour operator, Protrav, as an International
Operations Co-ordinator. Here she helped to develop and grow the company, as it
was only one year old, making it a serious competitor in the wholesale travel
industry. Her duties included consulting in all areas of Protrav's
international database, assisting clients with requests, reservations
amendments and queries, invoice reservations, and checking and receipting all
outstanding payments. She was also required to maintain product knowledge and
remain familiar with all current events, as Reservations Co-ordinator.
She was promoted to
Groups Co-ordinator, which entailed her being responsible for groups of 20
people and upward, to as many as 200. This included all air arrangements,
visas, foreign exchange, hotel and transfer arrangements, as well as short and
coach tour reservations.
She was sent to New York and New Zealand on
educational familiarisation trips, as a representative of South African Tour
Operators, and attended several management courses. She was also awarded the
Personality of the Year certificate.
Hayley is currently
Skills Development Services Manager with Veld Cooper and Associates (Pty) Ltd
(VCA) and is a highly experienced Skills Development Facilitator with working
experience covering a number of SETAs. She has attended intensive in-house
training on all aspects of VCA's operations, with particular emphasis on Skills
Development Act-related functions, as well as a number of external courses
offered by SETAs. She is also a member of the Association of Skills Development
Facilitation of South Africa (ASDFSA).
Hayley manages VCA's
travel and administrative functions. She is responsible for keeping strict
control of petrol and accommodation claims during SETA projects, and auditing
these prior to submission to the SETA concerned. Hayley is responsible for
quality assuring invoices at the time of submission to the relevant SETA,
ensuring the accuracy of these documents. She is also accountable for managing
all contract staff, after giving them extensive internal training, where she is
assisted by the CEO. She has recently been appointed as a Director of VCA.
Hayley
completed a National Certificate in Human Resource Management, through
Maccauvlei, in 2006. She is also in possession of a National Certificate in
Skills Development Facilitation. Hayley is a qualified ABET facilitator for
ABET Levels 1-4 in Numeracy and Literacy, and is a member of the South African
Board of Personnel Practitioners, and has the professional registration of HR
Technician.
