Hayley Hynd
PROFILE OF MS HAYLEY HYND

Hayley Hynd completed her Matric and high school career at St Dominics Convent, where she obtained a full Matric Exemption. She also competed in the Accountancy, Afrikaans and History Olympiads.

She was an active member of her Youth Group, being a youth leader.

Hayley studied travel and tourism through Rennies Travel Training Institute (TTI), graduating with exemptions, especially excelling in customer care. Here she also completed her Galileo course, and she did her practical training at Rennies Sandton.

She started her working career with Creative Tours, a wholesale Tour Operator based in Parktown. Here she worked her way up from a Trainee to a Senior Travel Consultant. She was sent to London for educational work experience. She also attended many in-house and external training courses while working here, as well as attending computer training.

Hayley was then offered a position at an opposition tour operator, Protrav, as an International Operations Co-ordinator. Here she helped to develop and grow the company, as it was only one year old, making it a serious competitor in the wholesale travel industry. Her duties included consulting in all areas of Protrav's international database, assisting clients with requests, reservations amendments and queries, invoice reservations, and checking and receipting all outstanding payments. She was also required to maintain product knowledge and remain familiar with all current events, as Reservations Co-ordinator.

She was promoted to Groups Co-ordinator, which entailed her being responsible for groups of 20 people and upward, to as many as 200. This included all air arrangements, visas, foreign exchange, hotel and transfer arrangements, as well as short and coach tour reservations.

She was sent to New York and New Zealand on educational familiarisation trips, as a representative of South African Tour Operators, and attended several management courses. She was also awarded the Personality of the Year certificate.

Hayley is currently Skills Development Services Manager with Veld Cooper and Associates (Pty) Ltd (VCA) and is a highly experienced Skills Development Facilitator with working experience covering a number of SETAs. She has attended intensive in-house training on all aspects of VCA's operations, with particular emphasis on Skills Development Act-related functions, as well as a number of external courses offered by SETAs. She is also a member of the Association of Skills Development Facilitation of South Africa (ASDFSA).

Hayley manages VCA's travel and administrative functions. She is responsible for keeping strict control of petrol and accommodation claims during SETA projects, and auditing these prior to submission to the SETA concerned. Hayley is responsible for quality assuring invoices at the time of submission to the relevant SETA, ensuring the accuracy of these documents. She is also accountable for managing all contract staff, after giving them extensive internal training, where she is assisted by the CEO. She has recently been appointed as a Director of VCA.

Hayley completed a National Certificate in Human Resource Management, through Maccauvlei, in 2006. She is also in possession of a National Certificate in Skills Development Facilitation. Hayley is a qualified ABET facilitator for ABET Levels 1-4 in Numeracy and Literacy, and is a member of the South African Board of Personnel Practitioners, and has the professional registration of HR Technician.
